After years of pain and deterioration in my left knee, I could barely walk around the block in my neighborhood. Dr. Fifer had been helping me for a couple years with steroid treatments until they no longer gave me relief. Following the total joint replacement procedure I went home with a fraction of the pain and discomfort I was experiencing just days before. After just three days of the recommended physical therapy, I was walking an average of half a mile each day, pain free! I quickly increased my daily walks to 1.5 miles. Three weeks after the surgery, the incision had healed quickly and I was able to bend my knee to 120 degrees. Thanks Dr. Fifer and staff for giving me back the active lifestyle I enjoyed before my knee problem.

In spite of the “horror stories” I had heard about others’ experiences, the entire process was comfortable, reassuring, and successful beyond my dreams.

You and your staff were accessible, light-hearted, encouraging, and thorough in providing information and answering questions. I came for the first interview with doubts and misgiving and left with complete confidence that your surgery was what I needed. And although there is more knee to “do”, I have been walking so much better and easier and have experienced very little discomfort from the first day. After 2-1/2 weeks I was walking without a cane.

So I guess all I can say is thank you from the bottom of my heart, for the encouragement, for the hospital visits and flower, and for your expertise.

Earlier this year you asked me what expectations I had for my new knee. I told you that on June 1 I expected to walk 18 holes on our and hilly golf course in Oslo,  Norway carrying my clubs.
